About Us
The story
Psychresources was created by NHS Mental Health Professional, Norgenta Lata as a response to the rising cases of anxiety amongst children and adolescents during the COVID-19 pandemic…
Here is her story.
Norgenta started her career teaching children in schools, delivering anxiety management sessions. However, due to the limits of funding, these sessions were often reserved for a small amount of children. The message was clear: all children needed to learn these basic emotional literacy skills.
Soon after, we saw a rising cases anxiety amongst children and adolescents during the COVID-19 pandemic. It was clear that mental health was the priority for many. And so the sessions that were previously taught, were developed into our first anxiety management book: Standing up to The Anxiety Monster. This one book then lead to a collection of activity books which cover topics of: anxiety management, mindfulness, self esteem, body safety and are targeted for children across key stage 1 and 2 (from ages of 4-9 years).
They have all been designed to be used as tools for parents, mental health professionals, and educators to spark conversation with children, educate them on emotions, their functions and equip them with tools to increase their emotional intelligence.
The Author
Norgenta is a trainee Clinical Psychologist in the National Health Service and is also a doctorate student studying Clinical Psychology. She previously qualified as an IDVA-independent domestic violence advocate -and is a member of the Awareness and Response to Domestic and Sexual Abuse (ARDSA) network, where she actively works to shape policy and practice within the NHS. After achieving a master’s degree in Psychological Sciences (Msc), she went on to publish her first book: Use Your W.I.T.S! with Austin Macauley Publishers who stated it was the most important book they reviewed in 2020. She describes this book as a guide that can be used for both adults and children, helping to navigate discussions on the important issues of body safety, consent and boundaries.
As the founder of Psychresources, she is passionate about mental health education and highlights the need for her books to be used by parents, and educators as tools to spark conversation with children and educate them on identifying and communicating their feelings and ultimately equip them with skills to increase their emotional intelligence.
The book designs
Each and every one of our books have been created with neurodiversity in mind. The colour scheme is mostly blue and yellow as research suggests this can help reduce visual stress and improve readability for our dyslexic readers.
All of our activity books come in both small and large print to accommodate individuals with visual impairments.
